The Secret To successful Weight Loss

Finding a quick diet that really works is like the Holy Grail for so many weight-conscious people, yet most of them are ignoring the hard reality…there is no such thing.

Fad diets offer temporary results

An endless number of fad diets have sprung up over the years, each one claiming to be “the” answer, yet the end result is always the same…a quick fix that brings only temporary positive results.

The solution: eat less and move around more

The hard truth when it comes to dieting and weight loss is that it’s all about eating less and moving around more. There’s no two ways around it, if you want to lose weight you need to cut back on calorie intake and/or increase the number of calories you are burning with regular exercise.

No matter how good various weight loss programs may look, most are tailored to help you lose a considerable amount of weight in a relatively short amount of time.

The human body is not built to sustain a state of diet and deprivation

Any time you do that you are necessarily setting yourself up for failure because it is simply not a condition that the human body is built to sustain. We’ve all been there - the yo-yo diet effect, with weight coming off and creeping right back on. There’s simply no way to avoid it.

Healthy eating habits are the way to go

The only proven way to not only lose weight but maintain that loss is by developing healthy eating habits which you stick to for the rest of your life. That means a balanced diet, rich in all the good things like fruits, vegetables and protein and light on sugars, fats and other pitfalls. And it means getting a regular amount of exercise to keep your body fit and firm.

In order to lose a pound a week, it has been determined that the average adult needs to eat 500 less calories a day or exercise more to make up the difference. You don’t necessarily need to cut yourself off completely from foods that you love or restrict yourself to specific types of food, just cut back on portions and keep your diet as balanced as possible.

Find some exercise you ENJOY

And exercise doesn’t have to be a struggle either. It’s not about pushing yourself until you drop, it’s simply about getting your body moving and stimulating your cardiopulmonary system so that you burn a sufficient amount of calories. To make it easier on yourself, find an activity that you love - be it walking, swimming, biking or something else - and focus on that. The more you enjoy what you’re doing, the more motivated you’ll be to do it regularly

We’d all love a magic solution to our weight issues, but it’s just not that easy. Losing weight means making a concerted effort to live right and commit to making that change permanent. Though it might seem difficult, if you can do it you’ll truly feel better for it and you’ll be reaping the rewards for years to come!
